All You Need

When Gianna was going through some bad times in school, i would pass on some advice my mother gave me, "you don't need alot of friends all you need is one good friend. Karen is one of those friends. She's been with me before my daughter was born. She was one of the first people to come see me after Gianna was born. she drags her sons to gianna's milestone events (birthdays, communions etc.) when i worried excessively about gianna she'd be the one reassuring me. and it should come as no surprise that she was one of my only friends brave enough to comment on my rave (see yesterday's blog). so tonight when i called her it was like we talk every day. a friend like that is invaluable she cares enough to call me out when i act stupid (which can be often). she knows my faults but overlooks them or likes me in spite of them. so i've been in a funk lately but after one talk with Karen things aren't so overwhelming. When i was first working with kids we taught them a song " make new friends but keep the old; one is silver but the other's gold." Thanks Karen-you're golden.
